BMW has confirmed a reduced IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program around the four Michelin Endurance Cup races for the 2021 season.
The news comes amid its driver lineup declarations for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.
John Edwards, Jesse Krohn and Augusto Farfus will pilot the No. 24 BMW M8 GTE for the Endurance Cup season and are joined by Marco Wittmann for Daytona.
The No. 25 BMW will see Bruno Spengler, Connor De Phillippi and Philipp Eng as drivers for the four-round championship, with Timo Glock completing the lineup next weekend.
No reason has been given for BMW’s reduced program amid the expected final year of GTE-spec cars in the WeatherTech Championship.
Confirmation of BMW’s program leaves Corvette Racing and WeatherTech Racing as the only full-season entrants, with Risi Competizione currently only only confirmed for the Rolex 24.
