Up-and-coming Puerto Rican driver Sebastian Carazo will rejoin Kelly-Moss Road & Race for the inaugural season of Porsche Carrera Cup North America.

The 22-year-old has been confirmed at the wheel of one of the team’s new type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars that will compete in the Pro class.

It will mark Carazo’s pro debut after winning the Gold class in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama in 2019.

He competed in the Platinum ranks of GT3 Cup Challenge last year with the Madison, Wis.-based team, finishing fifth in the championship.

“I truly enjoyed the experience of working with such a professional team as Kelly-Moss Road & Race,” said Carazo.

“We learned a lot from each other and learned how to build a winning team.

“This year we have a huge challenge because we join a new and stronger class in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America. But we look forward to the competition. We have a great car and can’t wait to get started.”

Carazo’s entry joins the previously announced effort for Sebastian Priaulx by the team, which took delivery of five of the new-gen Porsche Cup cars.

“We are very dedicated to supporting and developing young race talent,” said team owner Jeff Stone.

“We have a long history of providing young drivers with a strong start in their sports car racing careers and after meeting Sebastian and his family, we became great friends, and I was able to assist him in his transition from Gold to Platinum.

“His results last year speak for themselves as he was able to finish fifth overall, despite missing three rounds of competition, and contending against drivers that have been running in Platinum for several years.

“We are looking forward to starting 2021 with much more competition from around the world, but the new car puts everyone on a level playing field, giving Sebastian the opportunity to showcase his talent.”
