Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’ Le Mans Hypercar has faced a setback following an accident Tuesday at Vallelunga.

The American team’s SCG 007 was taking part in a planned multi-day test at the Italian circuit when it sustained damage after an impact with the barriers.

No word has been given on who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident although Gustavo Menezes, Romain Dumas, Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook are all on-hand.

“007 went off on out lap,” Jim Glickenhaus told Sportscar365. “Everyone’s fine. No issue with car.

“Major Tom performed perfectly in shearing/shearing damage.

“We’ll continuing improving him and be back testing on schedule. It’s only rock and roll but we like it.”

Glickenhaus said the accident came after completing 200 laps at the Italian circuit on Monday.

SCG is currently still operating with a single 007 chassis as its second car is in the process of being built up for its planned FIA World Endurance Championship debut at Spa in May.

The car made its on-track debut at Vallelunga last month with Dumas at the wheel and has since completed additional test days at Monza, totaling 600 kms, in preparation for the 2021 season.

It plans to return to Vallelunga in ten days’ time for another test prior to a 30-hour endurance run at Motorland Aragon which will lead straight into the car’s homologation.

Glickenhaus said the car has already passed its mandatory FIA crash test prior to Tuesday’s incident.
